Whakawhetu is strongly supported by the following groups, to ensure the cultural integrity, professional integrity, sector credibility and sustainability of the service.
Te Taumata
Te Taumata safeguards the cultural integrity of Whakawhetu. Our members are highly respected kaumaatua from the health sector who have strong community links. Quarterly meetings with our Taumata ensure that our operational decisions and practices align with Tikanga Māori. Our Taumata also provide cultural support and advise when required.

Auckland Uniservices
Auckland Uniservices are the business arm of Auckland University. They are the contract partner with the Ministry of Health, who funds Whakawhetu. Auckland Uniservices provide strong support through their infrastructure and support staff to ensure the professional integrity of our service. Being closely associated with Auckland University also provides opportunities to broaden the scope of our service to engage academic and clinical communities.
Expert Advisory Group
The Expert Advisory Group provides expertise and strategic advice on the ongoing development of Whakawhetu. Our members are leaders in their field and influential amongst their peers. Quarterly meetings with our advisory group ensure that our strategic objectives align with the latest evidence and key priorities. Our members also act as champions in the area of Maori SIDS Prevention. We are currently reviewing our membership, however current members include:
